Question:
New house, garage door opener, no instructions.
It's a Craftsman model #139.53647SRT1
I've searched the net with negative results. Does anybody have a link or
can somebody provide a PDF version of the instructions? I know how to
reset/program the remotes, but the lightbulbs stay on and I'd like to know
if there's a timer setting, etc. to turn them off. Also, the remote has 3
buttons. Why 3 when only one controls the door?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Answer:
-IF it's like a Genie you can not change the timeout for the light.
The buttons on the remote are for when you have more than 1 garage
door and want to control them separately. Each for one button.

-You did not look very hard for the instructions. I bought a newer home with
a Craftsman garage door opener and did not have any trouble getting the
instructions.
one button is for the light one for the door and one for locking the door,
at least that is how mine works.
-The lights will stay on for a pre-set period of time. It's a feature to
provide lighting long enough to get around in the garage at night. Are you
saying the lights never go off? The 3 buttons are for other garage doors
and/or controllable lights in the garage or house.
-I have this model. Only the deluxe model has door and light buttons. This
model 674 opens the door only. The light comes on for approximately 4 1/2
minutes then should go off. There is no adjustment. The PDF file
referenced in this thread appears to be similar to your model only newer.
It should answer most of your questions. My daughter's Sears door opener
which was older than mine when out a couple of years ago. I was
disappointed to discover that the Sears files had dropped that model. I
finally fixed it but it reminded me that the old saying that you can always
get Sears parts, manuals etc. ain't true anymore. Ah progress.
