Question:
Can anyone tell me what these buttons do? They are on the lower left
underside of the review mirror.
I'm also trying to figure out how to reset the trip counters.
And what about the "SW" switch on the center console. It does not seem
to affect the dash display. I'm assuming the S would change to a W
above the transmission indicator.
Answer:
To activate the garage door feature on the homelink system, hold the two
outboard buttons for about 45 seconds or until the flashing becomes rapid on
the little light. When that happens, the memory has been cleared. The hold
the garage door opener close to the visor, choose a button on the visor you
wish to use to operate this door and simultaneously hold down that button on
the visor and the garage opener button until the flashing light changes
speed. Not all garage door openers work initially with the system and MB may
have to install a special kit in your garage to facilitate this. They run
about C$100. Also if the battery is weak in your garage door opener is weak
it may not make the system pick it up. In my case I have one garage opener
that will not transmit to my car and another that will. Go figure.
Check the garage door opener unit to see if you have a "learn" button. Once you
program the button inside your car like what the manual says, go to into your
garage, press that learn button, and return to your car to press the homelink
button you have just programmed. It should sync up the buttons inside your car.
It's odd that Mercedes missed out this important step in the manual, I got that
from an owners manual in another car, I guess MB should include this little
important step for some of the rolling code garage door openers. If that doesn't
work, then you will probably need to do what another poster said about purchasing
a kit...
