Question:
The home I recently purchased has two garage doors with two similar (but
not identical) garage door openers from Sears. The previous owners furnished
me 2 transmitters, but unfortunately, they both open the same door! The one
that works with the transmitters has a DIP switch setting and if I take a
transmitter apart, there is a matching DIP switch.
The one that doesn't operate does not have a DIP switch.
Where can I find out what I need to operate the second door?
Answer:
the garage door opener probably has a wall unit(receiver) that is
energized and then sends a signal via bell wire to the overhead opener
(just like you getting up there and shorting the connections). you gotta
look for this wall receiver. this is the receiver for this remote that
does not work.............
the one with the switches is probably older, i have one that about
20 years old with the dip switches.
i just have one remote, went to sears to try to get more. they sell you
a kit with one receiver and two transmitter...this is for one door,
you can also get a receiver for two doors with two differenct
frequencies with the remotes with two buttons on them.......
you probably do better by contacting a local garage door place and
getting them to install for you, as sears will not be able to help you
out on this one, they can sell you the item, but the service and repair
parts are lacking.
