Garage Insulation Kit

Question:
I now live in Florida (Orlando). It is a two car garage and I plan to enclose a 5 x 8 foot area (with and additional enclosed 3X8 overhanging the hood of one car). The humidity (and heat in the summer) is something this Rocky Mountain boy is not used to... yet. Do those of you who model in these southern parts A/C your garage, use a dehumifier or what? Do you build out a part of the garage or use the whole space. A three car garage was not an option and basements...well I guess those are called indoor pools
Can anyone in the group help me please?.

Answer:
It sounds like you are referring to a 2 car carport.Or are you planning to
-separate- one part of the garage from the other for your workshop? Most of the homes I've seen do not aircondition the garage, and it gets pretty hot in there. You could buy an insulation kit for the garage door, and install insulation batts between the studs, and then maybe cover in sheetrock, then add a duct to the airco for the garage. Also need to insulate the ceiling, and a powered roof vent(s) helps a great deal.I'd begin with the roof vents, that might lower the temp enough to be useable. How long have you lived in O-town? I've got 15 years here. You get used to it after 6-7 years!
