Question:
I want to purchase and install a storage shed kit for my back yard.(So I
can clean out the garage). I haven't seen one of those metal kits that I
like yet but am open to suggestion. I think I want a wood kit in the
8'Wx10'Dx8'H with a double front door. Please share with me your
experiences with different brands and some of the tips for making this
a successful project
Answer:
I don't have a garage, so i purchased an 10x18 foot wood shed kid from
lowes. The instructions were quite easy to understand. Everything was
included except the roof shingles. I'm not very handy around the house,
but found this kit was designed for beginners. It did take me a little
longer to complete then the instructions stated. I was being extra
careful not to make mistakes. Also make sure you have some type of
ventilation. I live in NC and my shed gets real hot inside.
I had a shed built from kit. What a joke the floor is on concrete blocks the
door opening is about 5 foot 6 inches.(I am 6 foot 2 inches) The entire
thing is held together with a hope and a prayer. It cost me over $1000. The
next shed I had done I designed my self. It is the same size 10 x 12, but I
have 8 foot walls and lots more head room. It only cost $700. And I have a
solid concrete floor and the tools I had to buy to make the shed. It was a
wonderful and enjoyable experience.
If you can I suggest you build your own shed or talk to a local contractor.
You will get a better quality shed that will last a long time.
