Genie Garage Doors

Question:
I lost my Genie garage door remote opener two days ago. I think my kid's friend took it over went he came over the week-end. I bought a new one at Home Depot and programmed it according to the instruction so
I can use it for now.
What do I need to do so whoever took my old one can't open my garage doors?

Answer:
IF it's an Intellicode system, doing a full reset of the opener and thus voiding the registration of all existing remotes, then re-registering the new opener, will do it. Not sure how it works with the older ones. t's an Intellicode remote with one big round button to press in the middle.
What I did was (according to the remote transmitter's instruction), opened the cover of the garage door opener (the one is nailed to the ceiling of the garage), pressed the "learn code" (the light blinked) and pressed the button on the remote twice a couple of times. And that's it.
