Can anyone tell me who the manufacturers of prefabricated or kit garages
are, how much the kits cost, and how expensive it is to build one?
Answer:
most building materials places (Home despot, builders scare,cheapingers)
sell prefab garage kits. i got my 1.5 kit garage for
$1300 from 84. that was lumber, door,trusses, delivered.
be aware, kits are going to be made using the cheapest possible
materials. I'd reccomend going over the specs, and changing a
few things. Like trusses, 16" o.c. vs 24". gable end step down
trusses, rather then uniform trusses. 2x6 frame walls, not 2x4.
vinyl siding over plywood sheathing, as opposed to the T-111
siding material. better grade roofing plywood. i truly regret
the roof decking on my garage. 1" Iso-cyanurate sheathing with
Tyvek house wrap on walls and under the slab( real nice for
cold weather country.) run some BX around for outlets and lights,,,
all this probably adds 500 dollars to the bill, but whats that
over the 15-20 years it will stand.
buy your own windows rather then the vendor supplied ones.
you'll both be happier.
