Question:
I've currently got a concrete pre-fab next to my house but it isn't
very wide and i was thinking of getting one of these. They seem to be
good value at only 630 squid but wondered if anyone has any experience
of them or knows of any alternatives.
How much would it cost to build a brick one (5.2 x 2.9m), bearing in
mind the foundations are already there ?
Building would be better for me as i also have a couple of motorbikes
and the diagonal shape of my front garden (corner plot) would allow me
to extend the garage wider at the front to accomodate but it isn't
essential. No need for power or water as there is a metre gap between
garage and house so its just a brick box.
Answer:
You're referring to the Yardmaster steel garage. I've no experience with
the garage but I have erected three of the largest size Yardmaster sheds
as we use them for storage purposes.
They were all easy to erect, with easy to understand comprehensive
instructions, and I built them single-handed with the exception of the
roof section, which has to be put together first before placing on the
wall sections and needs at least two people to lift it into place.
One criticism; Yardmaster seem to be economising on materials as the
last shed we bought had much flimsier steel doors than on the earlier
models. And one thing to bear in mind with a steel garage/shed; you get
condensation inside, especially at this time of year, and water drips
down from the roof beams. We have to use a tarpaulin inside to cover
anything we don't want getting wet.
