Question:
I'd like to paint the concrete floor
with some type of epoxy finish.
So far the local Lowes, has a two-part epoxy kit made by Rustolem ($53) ,
and the local HD has a one-part epoxy paint by BEHR for around $25-30.
Even Tho the 1-part epoxy from BHER is listed as 'Professional Heavy-Duty
Grade', i've never delt with an epoxy that had only one-part.
Can anybody give me advice on either these two products or, if you know of
something better, please point me in the right direction?
Would the same epoxy coating be appropriate to use on the floor of a two-car
garage? My father fell next to his car while it was parked in the garage and
passed away due to a heart attack. As a result of this, there is a fairly
large stain on the concrete from blood and fluids. I'm under the impression
that blood does not clean up very well, so I'm thinking of just painting the
concrete with the epoxy paint.
Answer:
Here's a link that may be of interest. http://www.ucoatit.com/ucoathome.html
This product was featured on a segment of Michael Holligan's "Your New
House".
It's not cheap, but looks interesting. Be sure to take a look at the
installation info and some of the pictures.
When I did my garage I hadn't heard about Ucoatit and just used the typical
battleship gray floor paint with a sand additive for a non-skid surface.
It's held up okay except for an area where I have a roll around chair. Some
of the paint there has worn away. If I were to do it over I'd definitely go
for some sort of two-part epoxy.
