Question:
I have a 1999 Honda Odyssey. I was able to program the universal
garage door opener so I could open the garage door while in the
car. Recently, I replaced my garage door opener. It is the kind
that automatically changes the code each time it is used. Now, I
cannot program the universal door opener to open the garage
door. Am I doing something wrong or the universal door opener is
no longer "universal"?
Answer:
Be sure and follow the
instructions in the Honda owner's manual exactly. The procedure for
encoding with a rolling code opener is entirely different from that
use with an ordinary opener. You don't use the garage door opener to
program the Honda. You have to program the opener directly with the
Honda button.
