Question:
I have a rather elderly Sears electric door opener that works well but I
need another remote. I opened the "solid state" remote transmitter I
have expecting to find dip switches or some other way to set the frequency
but found none. On the back sticker it says "CARRIER FREQ N".
Would a "universal remote" work for such a model? And is $20 a fair price
to pay for one?
Answer:
Carrier frequency N is a VHF frequency.hasnt been used for garage
door openers since the 70s.After that they switched to UHF.im not sure
what you mean by a "universal remote",but at Sears and other places they
sell a "universal remote kit" that consists of a new, modern style receiver
and a transmitter to match it.they are more like 50-60 dolars and they
include a 110 volt "wall wart" adapter,as the new style receiver does not
take its power from the motor box.
